From The Principal
Dear Imagine Weston Parents and Families:
This Thursday, February 26th, is a Broward Early Release Day. All students will be dismissed at noon. But wait, there’s more happening that day. We are having a Family Dine Out at the Carolina Ale House. Please join us for either lunch or dinner on Thursday. Simply click on the button below and bring the Imagine Weston Family Dine Out Flyer with you to the restaurant to identify your affiliation with Imagine Weston. The Carolina Ale House has been a generous partner in education with Imagine Weston and we would like to show them our appreciation by having our families dine there on Thursday (and any other night as well). There are also special incentives in each classroom for those students who attend the event.
The State Florida Assessment writing test will be administered next week for grades 4, 5, 6,& 7. (Grade 8 will be the week after since it is on computer). The test is quite different this year than ever before. For the first time, grades 5 ,6 & 7 are being tested. In addition, the type of writing has changed in many respects. Students will be asked to write their response (ex: argument, opinion) based on texts will be accompanying the test. The 120 minute test will be scored differently and the rubric this year will take into consideration spelling, proper grammar and punctuation. There will not be a separate writing score. The writing score will be combined with the ELA or Reading test score for a composite ELA (English Language Arts) score. It is imperative that your child take both the writing and the ELA tests. If any part is missed there will be no Reading test score for that student.
We would like to take this opportunity to profusely thank the PTP and all the parents for the overwhelming outpouring of generosity and love during staff appreciation week. It really buoyed the spirits and hearts of everyone and every day seemed more special than the one before. It truly was a special week.
Lots of good luck and success to all our students who will embark on the path of the new Florida Standards Assessment next week. We have faith and confidence in your abilities and we thank your teachers and parents for all their support and help.
